Set on fully automatic, today’s digital cameras can take some really great pictures. But consider stepping away from the automatic settings and go manual. Almost all cameras have a wide variety of manual settings that will result in some very cool pictures. Get creative and experiment with the settings. One such setting is long exposure. Long exposure opens the cameras shutter longer than normal, anywhere from 1/10th of a second to 30 seconds or more. This allows the camera to collect imagery that might not be captured in automatic mode. Long exposures at night can produce some amazing images!
