A common question we hear in Studio 300 is this: What is the difference between -R and +R blank DVDs? The general rule is to use -R for playable (video) DVDs and +R strictly for data disks. That said, the -R format is more common and will work with almost all DVD players and recorders. The +R format isn’t compatible with all players (except those made by Sony and Yamaha). Today the formats are generally interchangeable, but for the fewest problems and the most compatibility, we suggest that you use the -R format for all your DVDs.
