What is 4K TV?

Image The 4K TV format (also known as Ultra HD or UHD) is the next step up from today’s current HD.  4K TV offers four times the resolution of HDTV — that’s 4096 x 2304 pixels vs. HD’s 1920 x 1080.  The 4K format delivers an incredibly clear and detailed image along with significantly larger screen sizes — 85″ to 120″. The 4K TV’s higher resolution also allows you to sit closer to the screen without seeing picture pixelation.

Most of the major manufacturers currently have 4K models available.  Unfortunately, there is only limited content available today.  nvidia-geforce-gtx-4k-batman-arkham-origins-4k-versus-hdAs the number of 4K TVs increase in the market, more 4k content will become available.  The good news is that all new 4K TVs will display regular HD and even upscale the picture to take full advantage of the 4K display.  As with any new technology, the prices are higher than HDTV’s, but that will change in the near future.  If you’re in the market for a big screen TV, 4K might be worth considering.
